The second meeting of the Regional Partnership for Legal Empowerment in Eastern Europe and Central Asia

“How to develop a paralegals community? Common Standards for Paralegals” was the title of the second meeting organized with representatives of NGO-s part of NAMATI, Legal Empowerment Network and Legal Development Network.

CLE was invited to present in the meeting as part of this network of lawyers and paralegals from the Eastern European countries.

Av. Franc Terihati, executive director of CLE, presented the development of the paralegal community in Albania as well as the challenges faced during this process.

Further in the meeting The model of paralegals in Moldova as well as the common standards needed for paralegals were talked about. Av. Terihati emphasized on the importance of the paralegals in the development of certain litigation cases, especially ones with the marginalized communities. He gave the examples when CLE was assisted by the paralegals to communicate with different communities and explain to them better the legal process.

The other participants also presented their progress, and then a discussion was developed on the following steps that can be taken, consulting and helping each other as well as building the necessary bridges to bring together all the different participating states.
