CLE in cooperation with the Directorate of Free Legal Aid conducted the training cycle on the topic:
“Initial training of paralegals engaged at Primary Legal Aid Centres, NGOs and various communities”.
On October 6, 11, 13, 18 and 20, a series of trainings were held on the topic “Initial training of paralegals engaged at the Primary Legal Aid Centres, NGOs and various communities”. The trainings were conducted on the Zoom platform and focused on the following topics:
- The notion of paralegal; The legal framework and its functions for the benefit of the community (October 6)
- Legal aid guaranteed by the state, the innovations of law no. 111/2017 (October 11)
- Legal framework for the protection of special categories of beneficiaries of legal aid (October 13)
- The right to information and the way of drafting official documents (October 18)
- Understanding mediation, alternative dispute resolution (October 20)
Invitations to participate in the trainings were sent to non-profit organizations that focus on providing legal aid services guaranteed by the state, with the aim of the participation of specialists in the field (paralegals, lawyers, experts, psychologists, mediators, students) as well as any person others interested in exercising the duties of a paralegal, through announcements on social networks.
Although the participation during the first training was confirmed by 22 people, this participation has increased after each training, where many interested people expressed their desire to be part of the trainings after the relevant posts on social networks.
The trainings started with the respective presentations by Mr. Franc Terihati, CEO of Centre for Legal Empowerment and Mr. Ergys Qirici, General Director of the Free Legal Aid Directorate (DNJF).
Mr. Terihati emphasized the role and importance of paralegals for communities that do not have the opportunity to access Primary Legal Aid Centres, introducing the CLE initiative for the initial training of paralegals with the aim of increasing their knowledge of specific areas of legislation and to improve their skills to interact with the community. Meanwhile, Mr. Qirici, presented in advance the trainings that will take place, reemphasizing the importance they have as paralegals in the communities they belong to.
At the end of the training sessions, a study visit took place (dated 25.10.2022) to the premises of the Tirana Primary Legal Aid Service Centre, where the interested paralegals had the opportunity to get to know closely the service provision activity of this centre for the citizens. The participants had the opportunity to follow the presentations prepared by the trainers and then direct questions about concrete issues from their daily lives and about any ambiguity of theirs.
All meetings and activities are reflected on social networks and the website, and the participants will receive a certificate for the training conducted. The ceremony will take place during the month of November near the CLE offices.
